Talk around the Block

Grab a mate. Take a walk. Have a talk.

Going for a walk can be a great way to have some time out and relieve some stress. And God knows we all need some of that. What’s even better than walking by yourself is having someone else to chat to and sharing the issues and worries that make up our lives right now.

Grab a mate, Grab your Phone, Grab your neighbour and don’t walk alone.

This August 29th The Male Hug would like you to Talk around the Block.

Help us make a difference.

Your donation will help us continue to 24/7 support network and education programs that really are making a difference in the lives of men across this nation.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

What’s the talk around town? About Talk around the Block

Talk around the Block is an event designed to inspire men to talk about their mental health with those they trust. With your friends, or with your family, Talk around the Block is a step in the right direction toward destroying the stigma around men’s mental health.

With the uncertainty of the lockdown and ongoing pandemic, Talk around the Block is a good way to get out of the house and talk with someone you trust. This could be a phone call, or a socially distanced walk between pals. Talking about your mental health can be daunting, but joining a thousand other people who are committed to doing the same thing can help alleviate that fear.

See that you’re not alone, and share your journey with others going through the same thing using the power of social media. We encourage our walkers to upload photos and videos of their walk and talk, using #talkaroundtheblock and tagging @themalehug.

Remember to be smart and safe – please abide by any current restrictions in place.

About The Male Hug

The Male Hug is an initiative that seeks to raise the awareness of men’s mental health, and promote open dialogue with those around us, and this event is just one of the stepping stones toward their goal.

This socially distanced and lockdown permitted event connects you with those you trust, and also allows you to help The Male Hug continue their work in the education of males about the advantages of talking. The Male Hug also offers a free of charge buddy program for those who need, or want someone else to have a chat with.

If you need someone to talk to, or know someone who might need a chat, join in with Talk around the Block and let off some steam.

But don’t do it alone.

Call someone you trust, bring your mum, bring a mate, bring your brother, father or work colleague. Get out of the house and talk, listen or relieve the stress that you’re dealing with. Talk around the Block is for you, and for the people in your life who need to talk.

There is no limit to the number of people who can get involved in Talk around the Block. We encourage everyone to take on the challenge and share the load.

Staying quiet hurts you, but speaking up helps you.

Take the first step and come have a chat while you walk around the block.

Grab a mate, Grab your Phone, Grab your neighbour and don’t walk alone.
